Ian MacLeod

General Manager

Ian has 15 years international  marine experience in shipyards and onboard vessels ranging from tugs and workboats, through some of the worlds largest and most luxurious superyachts to refit, repair and maintenance of passenger ships, tankers, bulk carriers and container ships.  Ian is our General Manager responsible for overall operations as well as providing technical guidance as a Naval Architect and Principal Engineer looking after engineering, design, naval architecture, and compliance.


Bob Wood

Principal Engineer

Bob has more than 40 years of engineering and design experience in the marine and mechanical engineering industries.  Bob is our Chief Engineer, responsible for overall engineering activity and design authority. Bob has extensive design experience with several vessel designs in operation to day.  Bob is an authority on tugs, barges, winches, cranes, naval architecture, and compliance.


Peter Allan

Snr Elect. & Mech. Design Eng / Project Manager

NZR Elect, RTC II MRINA

Peter has many years of experience in electrical design and installation on marine projects ranging from workboats and tugs, luxury superyachts and large commercial cargo vessels.  Peter is our senior electrical design engineer responsible for electrical / electronics specification, design, detailing, construction supervision, and project management.


Jason Smith

Senior Naval Architect

MRINA, CEng

Jason joined MID as a Naval Architect with previous experience with RoRo Passenger Ferries, High Speed Ferries, high speed catamarans and luxury superyachts. Jason is responsible for stability assessments, hull modelling, resistance and propulsion as well as vessel design, rule scantling assessment and compliance and structural design.


Espen Johansen

Electrical Engineer

BE, MSc, MEM

Espen has a background in Electrical and Control Engineering and Engineering management with several years experience in marine engineering and control systems with one of the worlds leading marine systems and automation suppliers.  Espen is responsible for electrical and control system engineering and project management


Hal Chen

Naval Architect

MEng in Ship Hydrodynamics, BEng Naval Architecture

Hal has experience in the analysis and evaluation of vessel hydrodynamics to predict hull resistance and propulsion requirements and optimisation of propeller design.  Hal is responsible for Naval Architecture. AUTOSHIP, MAXSURF, ACAD, LR RULE submissions and statutory computation of loadline, freeboard and tonnage regulations for approval.


Terry Moverley

CAD Manager / Electrical Draughting

Terry has many years experience in electrical and electronic draughting and design.  As our CAD manager Terry is responsible maintaining our design office standards and controls and for electrical, electronics design and draughting support using ACAD Electrical.


Randall Clement

Senior Mech Engineer

BEng AMRINA, GIPENZ

Randall has several years of hands on design experience since graduation and works closely with our local shipyards and vessel operators to optimise their design solutions.  Randall is responsible for  providing structural and mechanical design, 3D modelling and FEA , using COSMOS, SOLIDWORKS, ACAD and Microstation


Alan Stephenson

Naval Architect

MRINA, CEng

Alan has international experience in vessel design, stability and sea keeping analysis and compliance with classification and statutory regulations.  Alan is responsible for structural design, Naval Architecture, class submissions and statutory computation of loadline, freeboard and tonnage regulations for approval.


Mark Guerin

Design Engineer

Mark joined MID after several years in the superyacht industry around the world.  Bringing his practical hands on experience Mark provides practical design solutions that he knows will work onboard vessels. Mark is responsible for mechanical and structural design and provides engineering designs as well as fabrication drawings, cut files, and engineering support.


Corne Kleinloog

Naval Architect

Corne has a background in high performance composite materials and boat building.  He also has experience of working in Dutch shipyards building luxury displacement and performance  steel and aluminium yachts up to 65m in length. Corne is responsible for stability assessments, hull modelling, rule scantling assessment and compliance, structural design and drawing production.


Ulrich Abel

Naval Architect

Ulrich combines the theoretical background of a Naval Architect with several years of shipyard experience at the interface between theoretical engineering and fabrication. Focused on repair and conversion, as well as marine construction and equipment including steel construction. As a qualified welding engineer Ulrich has advanced knowledge in welding and materials. Main responsibilities are stability, rules compliance, and structural design.


Kris Decke

Design Engineer

Kris brings a combination of real world experience onboard international superyachts and a degree in engineering that allows him to produce practical designs that he knows will work onboard the vessel.  Kris is responsible for structural and mechanical engineering and design support to larger projects and local shipyards providing design detailing, engineering systems layout design cut files, modelling.


Jarrod Gibson

Design Draughtsman

Jarrod combines a practical hands on boatbuilding apprenticeship with marine design draughting experience from New Zealand and overseas. Jarrod provides design draughting support to the engineering team and uses his practical experience to ensure design solutions are practical and easy to build and maintain in the real world.  Jarrod is responsible for structural, mechanical  and electrical design draughting in support of our design engineers.
